Texturing

Unity3D

Oh hai,

Been busy with various things, didn’t find a lot of time to get back to my work. Just got back from an intense training weekend with my tae kwondo club. Great fun i’ll tell you but my god the muscle ache!

Anyhow, i decided to try my hand at texturing. UVW unwrapping is fun in a way, i quite like it. Although to be fair right now it’s just simple shapes. Tried various different approaches to create the feel that i want for the “game”. Seeing as i based it on some of the old Playstation One games, i tried my hand at pixel art. Sadly this was waaaay to time consuming for me at the moment. After consulting some of the pixel artists at PixelJoint, i tried applying normal/realistic textures to my object and then turning off filtering in Unity3D on the imported materials resulting in nice pixelated textures. This could be further “enhanced” by reducing the player and editor quality to the fastest setting. Although that did seem to be a bit much and turning off the filtering proved to be enough to get the feel that i wanted.

Right now i’m still trying to figure out why 3D Max is difficult with psd files and alpha channels since this is causing some issues in Unity3D. See through objects and such :(
